Yesterday, was a very scary and emotional day at HHH Ranch.
Ms. Christine found Storm, trapped and flipped over in the mud. When she found him, his breathing was erratic, his body was shaking uncontrollably and his eyes were fading.
She began to saw away the small tree that his foot was wedged between. Because he most likely slipped and got stuck the evening prior, his foot and leg had begun to swell only trapping him more. Throughout the night as he tried to free himself he only buried himself more into the soft mud, so far down that his front leg was caught under a tree root.
The fire department was called, as well as the Emergency Vet. Once freed, his ordeal was far from over as he didn't have the energy or will to get up.
With the help of the fire department they were able to roll him and get him on his feet.
Ms. Chrisitine immediately started to dry him off to try to get his body temp up, the vet gave him an iv of fluids and anti inflammatory medicine and x-rays were taken.
Praise God there are no fractures, but the next 3 days are critical. His foot was so tightly wedged that it cut off circulation. We are keeping a very close eye on him to make sure that he doesn't lose ciruclation to the bottom of his hoof.
The vet said that if he had done this a few nights ago when the temps were lower he most likely would have passed away before he was found. Ms. Chrisitne believes had another hour passed it would have been too late for him.
We are VERY blessed to still have him with us. He will be out of lessons for quite some time and his medical bill yesterday was over $700.
Please help us with either a monetary donation, or by dropping off a bag of sweet feed at the ranch to help off set this cost.
Be sure to check in for updates on how his recovery is going!
