As a freshman in high school, I did a National History Day project on the first summitting of Mount Everest and the effects of Everest tourism on the local Sherpa community. During that project, I discovered the American Himalayan Foundation (AHF) and their incredible STOP Girl Trafficking project, which sends girls in rural Nepal to school as protection against human trafficking.
So, my sophomore year, I helped organize a fundraiser at my school for STOP Girl Trafficking. We reached our goal of $1000, which sent ten girls to school. Last year, when my school shifted all fundraising efforts to focus on the global water crisis, I decided to set up an independent YouCaring fundraiser for STOP Girl Trafficking, and, with the help of wonderful donors in my community, was able to exceed my goal of $1000! Thank you to all who donated!
I feel very connected to this project, and, in my senior year, I want to at least reach the same goal again and keep those ten girls in school. So, I am enlisting the support of my community once more!
Like last year, because of the way I have set up the fundraiser, donations are tax deductible. As long as you provide your contact information, AHF will issue you a tax letter.
Thank you all,
Jay
