Walk to the Beat of My Heart
Join us as we walk virtually for the 9th Annual Conquering CHD - Illinois Walk on Sunday, May 16th!
We wre walking for Vladimir and every other CHD patient born! Vladimir was born with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome. (HLHS). He was diagnosed in utero at our 20 week ultrasound. Since birth he has gone through 2 open heart surgeries, 3 Cardiac catheterizations and 3 ER visits. A total of 60days inpatient. Vladimir is thriving today because of his team of cardiologists and doctors at Advovate Children’s Hospital. We have had countless X-rays, EKGs, Echos and blood draws! Vladimir will continue to receive life long care! We are looking at possibly one more life saving surgery, if not more. There is no cure for Vladimir.
As Vladimir continues to overcome all the obstacles and challenges HLHS presents, he does it because of his medical team and family. Our #CHDVoice gives us hope.
Nearly 40,000 infants in the U.S. are born with Congenital Heart Disease (CHD) every year. CHD is the most common birth defect and the leading cause of infant death due to birth defects. Conquering CHD-Illinois is a non-profit with a mission to conquer CHD. We are Conquering CHD through education, support, research and advocacy. But we are unique in our approach – encompassing the lifespan, encouraging transparency, and meeting families where they are.
