In 2016, I made it a personal goal to challenge my mind and body by running the 2018 NYC marathon. While this became a personal goal for me after having hip surgery, my inspiration has been the resiliency of those with bigger challenges in life like fighting against cancer. At 18, I lost my father to cancer. Then in 2011, I lost my mother. Since then, I have lost other friends and their families to this insidious disease. I am fortunate enough to have my health and to train for this year's NYC Marathon on November 4, 2018. I want to use this opportunity to raise money to continue the fight against cancer. We need more research for people in treatment so that one day we can all have more time with our loved one.
