Many of you who know that what I hold most near and dear to my heart is the happiness of young people. In just the past decade I've had the oppurtunity to work with children of all ages from infant all the way through high school age. I've had these oppurtunities both through paid and unpaid work and while these experiences have been wonderful, most of these young people have had relatively happy life unlike the millions of orphans around the world.
Something that has become a wonderful hobby for me this year has been running. While out on several runs I've been hooked into an idea of wanting my miles of running to mean something. Lo and behold, I'm driving to a mountain to go run and I put on an audio book for the drive(Tales of Beedle the Bard) which turns out to introduce me to this very charity https://www.wearelumos.org/ which I encourage you to read about but to summarize they work to not only place orphans in homes but also to place children back with their parents who could not otherwise afford to care for them and even prevent children from ever entering institutions.
And so I'm bringing these two interests of mine together. Ive already commited to run the year starting January 1st which means running 2021 miles in the calendar year(about 5.5mi a day) I'll be running these both on regular daily runs, obstacle races and other such running events. What I'm asking is that you help me by donating to this charity equal to my miles. This is not to say, you donate and I'll run, on the contrary I'm running the miles and asking that everyone further motivates me by donating a total $2021 throughout the year and help Lumos help the children who've recieved an unfair lot in life. Additionally I challenge you to get out and run the miles equal to your donation. I'm sure we can do it and hopefully the dollars come faster than the miles to push me further faster. If we surpass the $2021 I'll try to add more miles. Please share this campaign with your friends because there is power in numbers. If by chance my goal is not reached by christmas 2021 I'm commiting to fill the difference myself.
