Since the outbreak of the pandemic, life has been extremely challenging for young people in South Africa's low income communities. Afrika Tikkun is grateful for the support of generous philanthropists like Steve Collis who stood by us during these difficult times and provided life saving support.
Even before the pandemic, South Africa's multitudes of disadvantaged children lacked access to basics such as food, shelter, healthcare and access to quality education. Their daily life revolved around simple survival, frequently leading away from education and social promise into despair driven crime. COVID-19 has worsened their situation and now threatens their very existence.
During this crisis, Afrika Tikkun has expanded it's services and has partnered with other local non-profits and community-based organizations to provide life saving support to some of the most marginalized communities. We have distributed food parcels, hygiene packs, fabric masks and personal protective equipment while continuing to provide access to quality education resources needed by the young people we serve to effectively break the cycle of poverty.
We have continued to adapt and introduce innovative ways to deliver our holistic Cradle-to-Career development model that invests in the sustenance, education and social development of disadvantaged youth from early infancy through young adulthood and into gainful employment - thereby enabling them to become productive citizens and the leaders of tomorrow.
On the occassion of Steve Collis 60th Birthday, we invite you to support our efforts of providing vital support to young South Africans and their communities during the pandemic.
Thank you for investing in our mission and for supporting programs during these unprecedented times!
