Hi family and friends!
I am Neila Connaughton and I am a senior at Nobles And Greenough School in Dedham Mass. Ever since I was little, I have walked out side my house and watched millions of runners complete one of their biggest goals. The Boston Marathon to me is incredibly powerful. I cannot think of any event that incapsulates more about the inspiring attitude of the city of Boston or the goodness and strength of humanity.
From the millions running to the many cheering them on, this event is all about purpose and support. The runners are either running to complete a certain time or physical goal, and the others are running to support a certain cause or charity. This positivity radiates to the crowds and touches so many, including me.
I hope you all will follow me and support me throughout this journey as I experience this truly powerful event, it would mean so much for me!
I can't explain to you how honered and excited I am to be running for the Stepping Strong Center this April.
Also by supporting me, you are supporting an amazing center that is working one patient at a time and changing their world for the better. So, thank you.

Nearly five years ago, Boston was changed forever when a beautiful Marathon Monday turned into a senseless tragedy. Gillian Reny, then a high school senior, was one of the 39 critically injured patients rushed to Brigham and Women’s Hospital (BWH), where doctors and nurses saved her life and both of her legs. In gratitude to BWH, the Reny family established The Gillian Reny Stepping Strong Center for Trauma Innovation with a mission of transforming outcomes for civilian and military heroes worldwide who have suffered devastating traumatic injuries.
To date, the center has raised more than $12 million. But much more needs to be done. Although trauma accounts for 41 million emergency department visits a year, funding for trauma research and care remains scarce. When you support a member of the 2018 BWH Stepping Strong Marathon Team, you are helping BWH turn tragedy into hope for trauma patients like Gillian so they can regain their strength and ability to step strong once again.
