On April 15, 2013, Gillian Reny was one of the 39 critically injured bystanders at the finish line in the Boston Marathon bombings. She was rushed to Brigham and Women’s Hospital (BWH), where doctors and nurses worked heroically to save her life—and both of her legs. In gratitude to BWH, the Reny family established The Gillian Reny Stepping Strong Center for Trauma Innovation to help trauma survivors like Gillian regain their strength and step strong once again.
In less than five years, the Stepping Strong Center has raised more than $14 million to turn tragedy into hope for civilians and military heroes worldwide who suffer from devastating traumatic injuries and events. But much more needs to be done.
Every 3 minutes, someone dies from a traumatic injury. When you support a member of the 2019 Stepping Strong 5K Team, you are helping advance BWH’s commitment to transforming trauma care for countless survivors and their families.
Thank you for supporting this extraordinary group of runners and continuing to honor the Boston Strong spirit that still defines our city today.
