Friends!
Jubilee Career Center for the Performing Arts, Inc., an after-school youth program is seeking assistance to activate its STEM mobile technology school bus and bring basic computer literacy, arts, education and healing to inner-city children and their families.
Realizing the importance that basic computer literacy skills have on educational attainment and successfully performing competitively in today’s workplace, Jubilee is on a quest to bridge the digital divide within inner cities like Worcester.
Jubilee is currently embarking on a STEM - based initiative that provides both youth and adult learners convenient access to the Internet, computer based training, life skills workshops, and digital resources.
The mission of the STEM mobile technology school bus is to bring modern technologies to underserved communities and provide opportunities for families to receive high quality, after-school and summer educational programming.
To operate this exciting initiative during 2019 and beyond, Jubilee is requesting financial assistance to cover at least three months of operating expenses ($15,000 required to operate mobile technology program February – April 2019).
With your support, the STEM mobile technology school bus will travel daily to different neighborhoods in Worcester, where residents will be able to use computers or tablets to do homework, prepare for exams (MCAS, GED or HiSET, SAT, etc.), or participate in our STEM-based workshops developing interactive art, computer games and mobile apps, while experiencing the wonders of careers in 3-D printing, computer programming, robotics and more.
Likewise, we will provide resources that assist digital learning initiatives in Worcester Public Schools: https://www.worcestermag.com/digital-archive
