Join UMD’s Women in Public Policy council in raising funds and awareness for My Sister's Place, a DC-based nonprofit dedicated to ending domestic violence and empowering survivors to live healthy, safe lives. They provide emergency shelter for women and children, transitional housing services, case management that extends into aftercare, and a batterer intervention program, among other critical services like community education.
Help us meet our goal of providing survivors with basic necessities that they need to get back on their feet! If we reach $50, that will provide sanitary products to a mother for 3 months. If we reach $75, that will provide a mother with transportation to and from work for a month. $150 will feed a family at their shelter for an entire month, and $250 provides diapers for a baby in their shelter for an entire year!
If you are a student at the University of Maryland, visit WiPP's Facebook page to see details on our corresponding fundraising event, Stay In to Help Out, where we will be showing a movie in Van Munching Hall and providing delicious food from Krazi Kabob on Oct. 24! Donating to this online campaign is encouraged in order to take advantage of the fun night and food we have planned! Cash and approved donation items will also be accepted at the event, if you prefer to donate that way.
