This year would have marked the 10th anniversary of the Rincón Beachboy SUP race in Puerto Rico-- a race aimed towards bettering their community, the diverse peoples within it, and the resources that support it. Due to the aftermath of Hurricane María, and the delay in restoration to Puerto Rico's infrastructure, they have decided to postpone the race until 2019.
As a community or watermen and waterwomen, who enjoy the pleasures of so many beautiful places around our world and our country, I feel we have an obligation to support those places, especially at their time of need.
Puerto Rico may not be ready to host us this season, but we are ready to stand together to help them.
On April 7th, 2018 (the day of the race), I will paddle 8 miles to raise awareness for the struggles that Puerto Rico still faces, many months after Hurricane María caused havoc on their shores. I will personally donate $100, in lieu of my race registration, to the restoration of this beautiful place and the beautiful people who live there.
Please join me in supporting Americans in need.
No donation is too small, and every penny counts.
Thank you in advance for allowing me an opportunity to affect change through the only means I know how: my paddle.
