Making a Difference in the Lives of Youth and Elders

See who's supported this campaign:

Peace 4 the Ages is an intergenerational collaboration between Stages Theatre Company and Alive & Kickin. This project was born out of a desire to connect two generations and challenge audiences to consider what these two groups, divided by age and experience, have to say about peace and how our perspectives change over the course of a lifetime.

When these teens and seniors got together to build, not only lasting friendships, but to create a live event, based on their individual visions of peace, the energy was electrifying. The magic began when they connected in rehearsals, sharing their own personal experiences, bringing them to life through music, dance, poetry, and video. And then it happened…10 days before opening night the pandemic changed the course of their lives, their work…and the world. Like so many others, the performance was postponed indefinitely.

After months of listening, “really listening,” and singing and dancing together through laughter, tears, and hugs, this large, boisterous, multi-generational family gathering was suddenly splintered into individual tiny boxes on a Zoom screen. Right now, this is the only way they can share their voices with you.

If you were moved by this peace-filled moment, please support these two non-profit theatres making a difference in the lives of youth and elders.

Thank you for your generous support.

Stages Theatre Company was founded in 1984 and since then has grown to become one of the largest professional theatres for young audiences in the country. We engage young artists with themes relevant to their lives and involve them in creating magical works featuring young people in meaningful roles. Through on-stage productions, education programs and other outreach opportunities, Stages Theatre Company annually serves more than 150,000 young people and their families. Alive & Kickin (A&K) was founded in 2010 by award-winning theatre artist Michael Matthew Ferrell with a mission to give voice to senior citizens through vocal performance and storytelling. A&K challenges the typical idea of what it means to “participate in a senior choir,” providing a space for isolated and underserved community members to connect with one another, find new purpose in life, and spread their inspirational message to multigenerational audiences across the state. The company, consisting of cast members ages 60-99+ “years young,” has grown to reach and serve more than 5,000 Minnesotans annually. For more information please visit
