We help high school and college students become global citizens through creativity and performance.
The centerpiece of our work has been our annual conference, Stage the Change, The Arts as a Social Voice. This past November the conference brought together more than 800 students and educators from racially and economically diverse regions of the Metropolitan area - NYC, Long Island, New Jersey and beyond. Together they create socially-relevant theatre, dance, and film works which address issues such as bullying, addiction, racism, intolerance and abuse.
At the day-long conference, students learn best practices, exchange ideas and create new works through panel discussions, interactive workshops, keynote speakers and student-created performances. All presenters are socially-conscious professionals in the performing arts field: actors, writers, producers, dancers, etc. Their high-quality workshops provide students with the tools to address social issues that concern them.
Now the STAGE THE CHANGE Ambassador Program will spread the work outside the conference. Students will attend a 5-day workshop led by theater professionals where they will create and perform original theater pieces, develop leadership skills and become official ambassadors for STAGE THE CHANGE. They'll take the work with them, with a goal of effecting change and making life better in their communities.
Please join us in supporting our conference and creating our Ambassador program!
