Matthew and I have chosen St. Vincent de Paul Society as our avenue for charitable donation. St. Vincent de Paul Society is a nation-wide charity providing short-term financial, material, and emotional support to the impoverished of each community.
"The Society of St. Vincent de Paul (SVdP) was formed by seven men in Paris, France in 1833. Today, the Society can be found in 150 countries on 5 continents with over 800,000 women and men carrying on the tradition of performing works of charity for those in need. The Society's nearly 100,000 trained volunteers in the United States provided 12.6 million hours of volunteer service in 2017, helping more than 5.4 million people through visits to homes, prisons and hospitals at a value of more than $3 billion dollars."
As an example, we have included a link to our local St. Vincent de Paul, in Alameda, Ca. You can be confident that your donations will support members of your community, much like what you'll see here on this site.
