St. Francis House rebuilds lives by providing refuge and pathways to stability for adults experiencing homelessness and poverty.
St. Francis House's mission has always been something important to me, and my family. Twelve years ago, my dad joined the board after learning about all of the wonderful programs and services St. Francis House provides its guests.
Fast forward 12 years to April 2019 and I have been fortunate enough to become SFH's Event Coordinator. I have been humbled every minute since seeing firsthand the tangible difference St. Francis House makes in the lives of hundreds of men and women experiencing homelessness in Boston.
I am SO EXCITED to be running my very first marathon this year - having completed two half marathons in 2008 & 2014, and several other endurance races including the Breast Cancer 3-Day in 2006, the Walk for Hunger for several years and the Pan Mass Challenge in 2016, 2017, 2018 & 2019! I am equal parts terrified and excited-out-of-my-mind to take on this challenge. This race is going to push me to my extremes, and the struggle over the next four months is going to be real. But this race is something that will have a start and an end. For the hundreds of men and women experiencing homelessness in Boston, they don't know when they will get housing, or even their next meal or bed to sleep at night. The realities of people experiencing homelessness are not often talked about, my hope for this race is to exceed my goal of $11,000 and to create a bigger conversation about the problems so many of our community member face.
Our President, Karen, says that St. Francis House helps people change the trajetory of their own lives and I think this approach is so important!
Any support - both fiancial and motivational - is greatly appreciated throughout this journey! <3
LET'S DO THIS!!!
