This time is like nothing nothing that we have experienced before, Let me say first of all, that I hope and pray that you and your family are safe. We have to entrust ourselves to the Lord in times like these.
Saint Catherine's parish is very stressed by the events we are experiencing. First of all is concern for all of you. We hope you have been able to access our Sunday and daily Masses being said by Fr. Kevin and myself and that it is a spiritual consolation for you and your family. Please check our parish website for additional information: www.scscedargrove.org
Second is our concern for our employees' salaries and the normal costs for maintaining our buildings. We have to keep paying the cost of utilities and take care of the people who work for St. Catherine's even while receiving no money from the Sunday collection. That's why Cardinal Tobin has invited every parish to create a GoFundMe page to help fill the gap. This is St. Catherine's page. I invite you to use it to make a contribution - one time or more, if your means permit.
Several parishioners have already signed onto our new electronic giving program. See the PARISH GIVING Tab on our website. You could do that if you prefer. The other way to continue to support our parish is to just drop your Sunday envelopes through the mail slot in the rectory.
I understand that you may be experiencing financial stress at this time. Remember: your family comes first. Then, if you are able, I ask you to continue to support St. Catherine's.
If this situation continues for some time, we will contact you with plans for the parish to reach out to those who may need assistance as the coronavirus emergency enfolds.
Yours in the love of the Lord,
Msgr. Robert Slipe
The Archdiocese of Newark
Welcome. The Archdiocese of Newark is coordinating with the team at GoFundMe to provide one online location for the faithful to support the critical needs of their own parish (through this page) or other parish communities (through the Parishes in Need fund). The faithful may also contribute through their usual channels (e.g., envelopes, other online giving, the Annual Appeal).
Please consider a tax-deductible contribution to your parish on the parish’s GoFundMe page, or to the Parishes in Need fund, which will be used to conduct outreach to those in need and support those communities struggling to continue to pay their employees and church utility bills through this crisis. Contributions raised through the parish GoFundMe page will benefit that parish.
Cardinal Tobin has waived the usual archdiocesan assessment for contributions raised through this initiative. GoFundMe does not charge a platform fee (0%). There is a 0% platform fee and only an industry-standard payment processing fee of 1.9% + $0.30 per donation. If a charity receives a donation of $100, they will net $97.80. Donors will also have the option to tip GoFundMe Charity to support their continued business.
Thank you for your generosity to your parish and to those parish communities unable to meet their critical needs alone.
