Dear Friends and Supporters of our Military Service Members,
We have been serving members of our Armed Forces for over 100 years. The recent catastrophic Covid-19 conditions, and our next-to-zero occupancy rates for the months of January through September has had us facing major cash flow problems. This is a truly critical time for us. So far, we have been able to keep our doors open and continue our mandate to serve our troops, but we are now at peril of shutting our doors very soon, forever.
After 100 years of honorable service to those proud men and women serving in our military, we may be forced to close our doors if we do not raise enough funds to operate the Club. The Soldiers’, Sailors’, Marines’, & Airmen’s Club (SSMAC) is a cause worthy of your consideration. The SSMAC is a non-profit organization honoring the military in a variety of ways since 1919. Our mission is best epitomized in our creed “To Serve Those Who Have Served Their Country.”
The SSMAC Club provides safe and affordable hotel accommodations for Members of our Armed Forces, Veterans, Retirees, Allies, and their families. We are a small hotel composed of 29 rooms and 63 beds. Our prices range from $65 - $75 dollars a night. The SSMAC has been providing a home away from home to many servicemembers and their families for over 100 years. As you can imagine, however, operating a hotel in Manhattan is expensive and the revenue generated from our room rentals covers less than half of our expenses. The SSMAC receives no city, state, or federal funding. We rely on donations to continue our mission of “Serving Those Who Have Served Our Country”, the club has been funded exclusively through patriotic and individual organizations. We now need your help!
We are also so much more than a hotel. Conveniently located in midtown Manhattan, our guests can find a warm and comforting place where they can connect with family using computers in the lounge area or via Wi-Fi Internet access. They can also relax in one of the lounges or canteen area where we serve free coffee and bagels each morning. The SSMAC holds many events and sustains programs each year to support the welfare of our service men and women. Our Thanksgiving Dinner, Veteran Stand-Down Program, Complimentary Broadway and Other NYC Attractions Ticket Program, Care Package Program, and our MIA POW Ceremony benefit our service members in many untold ways. For us to keep providing these services and affordable accommodations to our military personnel and their families we need your help now more than ever.
The recent catastrophic weather conditions, fuel costs, and our next-to-zero occupancy rates this past year have us facing major cash flow problems. This is a truly critical time for us. So far, we have been able to keep our doors open and continue our mandate to serve our troops but that will not last long unless we receive major funding. Our building, though stately and grand, is a century old and requires constant care and maintenance. These are tough and challenging times to say the least. Our dedicated staff is now completely working on a volunteer basis and we have managed to reduced costs to a bare minimum but that will not be enough to keep us operational.
We now humbly ask to join us and help save this iconic institution dedicated to serving those who served us in uniform.
Please donate now and contact us should you also wish to join our growing Advisory Board during these difficult times.
Please help a great cause!!
