This Memorial Day Weekend, on May 25th, Ross, Christine and Anthony will be running (or trying to run) the Spring Lake Five in Spring Lake, NJ, on behalf of the John Taylor Babbitt (JTB) Foundation. The JTB Foundation is a non-profit organization founded in John's memory to help prevent sudden cardiac deaths.
The Foundation does this by:
- installing defibrillators (AED's) in public places
- proposing legislation to support placement of AEDs
- establishing heart clubs at colleges and high schools to raise awareness, and
- supporting research on genetic cardiac disorders that contribute to sudden cardiac death.
John was 16 years old when he collapsed and died from an undiagnosed heart condition while playing basketball with his friends. John is survived by his brother Andrew and parents Dave and JoAnne, who have done an extraordinary job of carrying John's legacy and achieving the goals of the JTB Foundation.
We've had the pleasure of becoming very close friends with the Babbitt family throughout the years and look forward to running in John's memory. Our goal is to raise $1,500 to support this amazing foundation and the prevention of sudden cardiac deaths. Please help us meet our goal by donating - every little bit counts!
