Shelby Germany was a true survivor. For over 37 years, she battled breast cancer. With the help of new advances in research and treatments along with an incredible inner strength and tenacity, she was able to kick cancer's butt time and time again.
In Shelby's trials with cancer, she was lucky in that she had wonderful doctors and excellent health care. She was able to afford some of those additional necessities that often aren't considered such as wigs, scarves, a prosthesis to wear after a masectomy, new makeup and clothes, and let's be honest, with Shelby, it meant more sparkly jewelry! This all helped to make her feel like she still had her sparkle, even on the days that were oh so hard.
Shelby realized that not everyone who was in a fight like hers had the same opportunities, the same supports, and the same resources.
She appreciated the importance of groups like the American Cancer Society not only for their work in research, but also in their support of patients. She even got a free wig and makeover from a local chapter when she was going through one of her rounds of chemotherapy, and met other women who desperately needed the kind of support groups like this had to offer.
For all of these reasons, we would love to support the American Cancer Society in honor of Shelby's memory, and we ask your help.
100% of the donations from this page will go to the ACS. We hope that it will make a small difference in helping women like Shelby and any others affected by cancer to get the help that they need, to hold their heads high, and to keep the sparkle in their lives as they fight against cancer.
