I was asked by several people to share more about Spotty's journey and some ways people can help contribute to the process. If you have any questions please feel free to ask!
🐱 Spotty's Story:
Spotty was a stray for 3 years in the Slatterly Park area in Rochester. One day in April he just showed up on my porch! It was love at first sight 🥰 But he was too shy to approach me or even let me get close at that point. Over the summer he spent time sleeping on some neighbor's porches or even on/in their plants, so I saw him and tried to make contact.
Eventually I earned his trust with food and a lot of patience. Something changed in him... he started to remember what it was like to be loved again.
Unfortunately other local rescues weren't able to help, but Camp Companion said they would come through when they had the funds and the availability to get Spotty fixed at their spay/neuter clinic. But before they could, the weather got really cold and we had our first snow. ❄️ So with a great deal of preparation, my husband Andy and I brought Spotty inside to be our foster kitty on October 23rd. ❤️ He definitely misses roaming, but all-in-all he's adjusting really well to the indoor life! 💕
🐱 The Charity:
Camp Companion's mission is all about preventing more homeless animals with their spay and neuter program, while getting animals like Spotty off the street and into a good home every single day. They do this work with the help of volunteers and foster families who work tirelessly day after day rescuing these poor, innocent creatures.
For the past 2 years Camp Companion has held a fundraiser in October that has raised around $5,000 and funded much of their important work for the year. This year, unfortunately, that fundraiser had to be canceled because of Covid-19. This lack of funding will greatly affect their ability to help many of the cats, kittens, and dogs that get sent their way this winter.
🐱 Spotty's Friends:
There are still so many cats out there just like Spotty. But luckily for Spotty he came in contact with some amazing humans who helped him get through those cold winters, and who made sure he was eating and drinking. Not every stray cat is so lucky!
Please consider helping Camp Companion so that other strays can get off the street and into good homes, and so they can get spayed/neutered, preventing future homeless cats. 🐈⬛
