The purpose of this fund-raising endeavor is to solicit for funds to help support the construction of a much-needed sick bay for girls on the compound of Aggrey Memorial Secondary School in Cape Coast, Ghana before possible transfer to the hospital for medical/surgical care.
The estimate of the cost for construction and equipping of the sick bay is around $15,000 to $20,000. Currently, the school lacks the resources to provide the initial, basic medical care for students who come down with various ailments like stomach upsets, headaches and chills, wounds etc, which can easily be managed in an outpatient setting. The lack of this basic medical support impacts the students negatively because they often miss classes and students stay in environments not conducive to their well-being.
Aggrey Memorial Secondary School once boasted as a very high-achieving high school in mathematics, science, and, even recently, robotics. But lately, academic levels have faltered because of all kinds of needs that the school has. This is demoralizing on the spirit the students have for academic excellence. We need to lift up their spirits again!
