Thank you for your interest and support in our community garden program. The Southside Community Center is a non-profit 501 (c)(3) that has been in operation since the 1980's. We are the only community center located on Spokane's South Hill. We are vested in our community and in collaborating with our local businesses, other non-profit organisations and multicultural partners representing the diversity in our community.
We are raising money to build a new accessible community garden in the Lincoln Heights neighborhood in Spokane WA.
This project is part of a collaboration between the Southside Community Center, Washington State University Landscape Architecture, Lincoln Heights Neighborhood Council, Downtown Meals on Wheels, The City of Spokane Parks Department and the Master Foundation of Spokane County.
The garden will serve up to 100 families in the surrounding areas. It will also have a central gathering area, outdoor classroom for education, children's garden, event space for ceremonies, a rest/picnic area and a tool shed.
Once established, community organisations and/or individuals can reserve a box to plant their own vegetables.
To achieve our vision we must raise money to build a fence and the raised beds. Each raised bed costs about $300 and we have space for 100 boxes. Our goal is to raise $50,000 to ensure the sustainability of this community collaboration.
Your support will allow us to start the ground breaking process. For additional information please contact the Chair of this project and SCC Board member, Dennis Anderson at firstname.lastname@example.org.
As a non-profit organisation, your donation may be tax deductible.
