Are you an avid biker? Do you enjoy spin classes? Have you always wanted to take a spin class but haven’t committed? Do you hate to bike but want to support a good cause? Come down to Flywheel in South Lake Union on Saturday, March 9th to try it out for a good cause. I am teaming up with this fabulous studio to raise awareness and funds for the Multiple System Atrophy (MSA) Coalition. In addition to spinning for a good cause, you will work up a sweat to some fun tunes followed by tasty beverages and appetizers. (YOU DON'T HAVE TO SPIN to come hang out and support the event!)
THANK YOU TO FLYWHEEL for donating the studio space and my buddy Drew for teaching the class!
Multiple System Atrophy, or MSA, is a rare, degenerative, neurological condition that affects both men and women, usually starting in the 50’s or early 60’s. MSA is considered a type of Parkinson-ism but with more widespread effects on the brain and body. Diagnosis is difficult and progression of the disease varies from person to person. Awareness and research is vital to search for not only a cure but more effective treatment for symptoms and early diagnosis.
My courageous mother succumbed to MSA December 2016, a little over four years after diagnosis. She loved to be active, to dance, and to ride her bike. I’ve taken on her love for biking and have completed two Seattle to Portland bike rides and last year rode from Seattle to Vancouver, BC. Spin classes are one of my favorite forms of exercise (also one of mom’s).
Join in on the fun! The class will cater to ALL FITNESS LEVELS. Cost to join is $50 for the 45 minute class and will include wine, beer, non-alcoholic beverages, and appetizers. Awesome raffle prizes available for additional purchase of raffle tickets.
Finally, if you do not wish to take the class but want to join in for the food and fun following the class, you are very much invited! The spin class will be over at 4:15.
There are 50 bikes for the class. When registering (link will be pinned below), choose the option to either join in for the class or skip the sweat session and join afterwards for the fun. And feel free to share with anyone else!
Thank you for helping me keep my mom’s (and all those who had, have, and will have MSA) memory alive. #CUREMSA
