I became aware of Community Bike Works (CBW) during a Capstone project (in summer 2018) during a Muhlenberg College post-grad program. CBW does some amazing work less than 10 blocks from Muhlenberg. I'm a cyclist and I had not heard of them!
CBW helps disadvantaged kids earn a bike, but along that process teaches them many larger life skills. Kids exit the 12 week program with a bike, but end up doing better in school: getting better grades, better attendance & better behavior.
Please consider this organization if you are looking to contribute to a local program in our own back yard, doing great work.
