We're ready to ride.
On February 8 Paige, Sam, Elaine, Rachel and Saphir will be riding to raise funds and awareness with the Parkinson's Foundation. Our grandfathers, family members, and family friends have all been affected by this horrendous disease, and we want to do whatever we can to help find a cure & raise awareness.
Paige: My Papa was the ultimate family man. Nothing was more important than his wife, kids, grandkids, and in-laws. For my entire life, Papa had Parkinson's and while I watched his decline over 20 years, I also got to know him, his love of building relationships with his clients and neighbors, working around his basement which was full of nicknacks, and his being as present as possible for his grandkids. Papa passed away in 2004 while I was in Brazil for a 3-week program but I was able to come home to sit shiva with my family and celebrate him for the incredible man he was.
Sam: Parkinson's has impacted my family since my grandfather was diagnosed. His diagnosis changed his life and constantly reminds me how appreciative I should be of my body. He is my inspiration for participating in this spin-a-thon.
Rachel: My abuelito suffered with Parkinson’s for over 15 years. Although the disease took away most of his mobility and strength, he still found ways of living his life to the fullest. My memories of him are full of him being so loving and caring to friends and family especially my abuelita, who took care of him with so much love and care. He passed away while still visiting me and my family from Mexico exactly one month after my Bat Mitzvah on September 27, 2012.
Our fundraising will support the Parkinson's Foundation and help serve the Parkinson’s community by:
· Understanding Parkinson’s through research toward a cure
· Ensuring better care for everyone living with Parkinson’s
· Educating and empowering the Parkinson’s community
