My name is Molly and I will be a first time marathon runner this April! Even better, I get to check this goal off of my bucket list in the great city of BOSTON!
I am so honored to be tackling this challenge in conjunction with the Special Olympics Massachusetts Xtra Mile Team! The Special Olympics holds a special place in my heart. I am currently a kindergarten - 2nd grade special education teacher in Lowell, MA. I've been working in the field for 6 years now. I had the pleasure of attending an event held by the Special Olympics Massachusetts with my students last Spring. The pure joy on the faces of these individuals was immeasurable. They were glowing with self-confidence while I was tearing up with pride watching each and every one of them! I chose to run for Special Olympics Massachusetts because I want as many children and adults as possible to experience that feeling of pride and happiness that I saw in my students and all of the other participants that day.
Some of you may also know that I have a brother who is on the autism spectrum who holds such an important place in my heart. Daniel has inspired me to pursue my career in the special education field, to push myself to higher standards and to accomplish new goals! The Boston Marathon has always been a goal on my bucket list and with your love and support I know I can achieve it!
I'm dedicating this training season, this fundraising campaign, and my first marathon to you Danny Boy! Keep smiling! I love you!
