The mission of Spay Neuter Project of Los Angeles (SNPLA) is to substantially reduce animal shelter intake by providing high quality, low-cost veterinary and spay/neuter services to underserved communities in Los Angeles. We are poised to celebrate the incredible benchmark of 200,000 spay/neuter surgeries during the summer of 2019.
For over a decade, SNPLA has been recognized as a well established resource for affordable spay/neuter and veterinary wellness care in Los Angeles. Our work saves L.A. tax dollars and keeps families together while reducing shelter euthanasia. SNPLA has an unmatched track record of long term targeted, high volume spay/neuter in low income Los Angeles communities. Our work is focused on providing high volume, high quality veterinary services for cats and dogs in some of the most underserved communities in Los Angeles.
SNPLA’s community outreach program has worked to engage families to inform, educate, and increase the number of pets spayed and neutered, thus helping to lower the number of euthanized pets in the LA shelter system. SNPLA’s free and low cost veterinary services enable low income families to keep their pets happy and healthy at home and ensure no pet suffers needlessly because her family cannot afford veterinary care including spay/neuter. These life-saving grant funds will provide SNPLA ongoing aid in our mission to end the euthanasia of adoptable pets and enable us to continue to increase the significant positive impact we have made in Los Angeles.
SNPLA is dedicated to saving the lives of Los Angeles' most vulnerable companion animals - neonatal kittens. Because neonatal kittens are euthanized at a higher rate than any other group of animals entering shelters nationwide, kitten nursery programs have become the new cornerstone in the rescue community’s efforts to reach a no-kill nation, city by city. SNPLA’s kitten nursery, the second largest in the city, plays an integral role in the success of No-kill LA, which will serve as an example and fuel motivation in the community nationwide.
THANK YOU for all your support to Team SNPLA during the Fund the Shelters Challenge!
