Meet Lucy (pictured above). She is one of the cats that we have been able to help, and according to her owner, is “a very happy kitty!”.
During this pandemic, The Cat Connection is working towards ending cat overpopulation by providing low-cost spay/neuter programs for owned cats. People who are on disability, food assistance, social security, rental assistance or are in need in other ways, have been especially hard hit these past six months. Many are reaching out to us when they find that they do not have the funds to spay or neuter their cat. Spaying and neutering cats is very important: it reduces potential health problems of pet cats, reduces the potential for unwanted kittens if pet cats get outside, and in extreme cases, reduces the chance that owners abandon their cats and/or kittens when they have no other options to care for them. Through GoFundMe, we have helped over 35 cats and their owners with this program. Even so, there is still an urgent need to help.
In addition we help owners with our Cat Food Pantry program in which we distribute cat food to low income cat owners. Some Meals on Wheels programs around the country are providing pet food as well as food for people, because otherwise the people they are helping share their food with their pets, rather than forego having pets. No one should have to make that kind of choice and we are trying to help.
Who are we? The Cat Connection aggressively tackles the spaying/neutering and vaccination of community cats in Waltham, Massachusetts and surrounding communities. Our trap/neuter/return/maintain program has been very successful in helping to reduce uncontrolled cat breeding, so that we have smaller and smaller community cat colonies to feed and care for. Our ongoing spay/neuter work is only possible through privately raised funds: grants, fundraising events and personal donations from supporters like you who believe that all cats are special and worthy of love, kindness and a healthy second chance. We rely heavily on personal contributions from you in order to continue our much-needed spay/neuter programs
Any donation in any amount is helpful towards continuing our highly successful and life-saving spay/neuter programs. The Cat Connection is a 501c3 non-profit organization. Your money goes directly to caring for these cats. Please don’t delay. If you can help us, please contribute to The Cat Connection
