Help us tackle and alleviate the suffering of non-human animals due to Covid-19.
While the toll that Covid-19 has taken on human populations and economies across the globe has undoubtedly been devastating, here in the US there is another crisis emerging from the shadows of this pandemic. During this unprecedented time, animal shelters, including spay/neuter operations, have needed to close in an effort to protect their employees and the public. The life-saving work of our organization, Animal Balance, has also been placed on hold until it is safe to resume, both domestically and globally.
Many shelters have quickly and efficiently placed animals in homes; through adoptions and by expanding their foster care network. All these animals have not been spayed or neutered as yet. It is also kitten season, which is exacerbating the situation as there are no spay/neuter services available for community cats either - which means an influx of new kittens and puppies in the coming months.
For both of these reasons, we are anticipating a major spike in need-based spay/neuter to accompany the end of the restrictions due to COVID-19.
Animal Balance has the experience, the people, and the expertise to help shelters with the backlog of these surgeries; we can help shelters increase their capacity for spay/neuter making these efforts sustainable and most importantly, we can save many lives by moving animals through these shelters quickly.
Nonprofits everywhere are facing unprecedented challenges as donations slow under the weight of the COVID-19 pandemic. We kindly ask that you support us and our team of dedicated veterinary medicine volunteers, and local partners so that we can be ready to hit the ground running when we are able to resume spay/neuter efforts in the most vulnerable communities here in the US.
