Hello Friends and Family -
This October marks the 20 year celebration of a pivotal point in my life - the month that I was officially declared to be cancer free. I was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma in April of that year, and spent 6 months undergoing chemotherapy and radiation treatment.
To celebrate this milestone, I decided to push myself to my physical and mental limits by endeavoring upon a difficult race challenge - the Spartan Trifecta. For those of you who don't know the Spartan race, it's an offroad trail race, run on very challenging terrain, and to make it even harder - there are numerous physical obstacles along the way. There are 3 different race types - the Spartan Sprint (3-6 miles with 20-23 obstacles), the Spartan Super (8-10 miles with 24-29 obstacles), and the Spartan Beast (12-14 miles with 30+ obstacles). Well I've decided to not just do one or a couple of them - I plan on completing the Trifecta, which entails completing all 3 in a calendar year.
I have put together a team of close friends (and my amazing wife!) to join me along the way, and in celebration of my 20-year mark, I plan on raising money in support of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. The mission of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) is to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families. I was a direct beneficiary of the LLS' efforts by taking advantage of their tremendous support groups, as well as their financial assistance, while I was undergoing very expensive treatments.
This is where you all come in. I've committed to raise $6,500 for the LLS, and so I'm asking my friends and family to support me in this effort by kindly donating to this great cause. No amount is too big or too small.
And our team is always looking for more members! So if you're interested in joining me in any/all of these races, drop me a line to join our team.
Thank you for your support! And as the Spartans say: "Aroo! Aroo! Aroo!"
Glenn
