Southern Foundation is a Starkville-based nonprofit organization founded over 20 years ago with the goal of providing aid to children and families at risk of falling into homelessness. Our organization is of the firm belief that no child should have to endure the hardships of food insecurity, homelessness, or a divided home.
We at Southern Foundation are launching this annual fundraiser for the betterment of our local Mississippi community. Funds raised through this campaign will go towards the distribution of educational resources, food, shelter, clothing, child/adult care, as well as COVID-19 relief efforts for families that are in need. A portion of our fundraiser will also be dedicated to the creation of a future endeavor called the Hill Side Garden Project.
The Hill Side Garden Project will be instituted to provide housing, educational services, nutritional support, and counseling to 10 qualified families that would not otherwise have access to these resources. The ultimate goal of this future project is to educate and empower the parents of these 10 families to be able to acquire and maintain an occupation, provide for their household, and break the chain of poverty and government assisstance that cripples so many families in Mississippi and the rest of the country.
Our current goal is to raise $2M towards the continuation of our efforts and to help pave the way for future provisional programs. Please join our fight to end child homelessness and food insecurity in our community, donate to help fund the change.
