About the South Merrill Garden:
We are an intergenerational, volunteer based garden group dedicated to facilitating peace in the South Shore neighborhood. The garden memorializes Troy Law, a former student of CPS, who died as a result of domestic violence. SMCG serves as a sanctuary and positive influence in a neighborhood which has been impacted by gun, gang and drug-related violence.
As a community garden, our vision is to create an environment that captivates the Spirit, Nourishes the Soul and enhances the quality of life in the community. We develop programming to educate all ages, nurture and serve the community of South Shore through organic gardening, art and intergenerational social interaction.
