This national initiative was created by the Red Cross to reduce the number of fire-related deaths and injuries through the installation of free smoke alarms and providing education about fire prevention and safety.
*7 times per day someone dies in a home fire.
*You have less than 2 minutes to escape your home when the smoke alarm goes off. Having a working smoke alarm doubles your chance of survival.
*2/3 of all fire deaths happen in homes where there is no working smoke alarm.
*To date, 520 lives have been saved due to a smoke alarm recently installed by a Red Cross volunteer.
