Our collective efforts for global health and security are more important than ever.
In response to COVID-19, Giving Tuesday Now, May 5th 2020 is being launched as a global event that allows people from all over the world to help fight the spread of COVID-19. SOTENI – as a community health organization working with people living with HIV/AIDS - is participating in Giving Tuesday Now, and we’re counting on supporters like you to help us make a difference.
Your support will go directly to life-saving, mission-critical programs to prevent and mitigate the effects of diseases, especially HIV/AIDS in rural Kenya. It will aid our expanded community health efforts to fight COVID-19, among the most vulnerable, those living with HIV/AIDS. Specifically, it will:
· Provide basic protections: gloves, masks and hand sanitizer
· Ensure 2,500 people living with HIV/AIDS and their families continue to receive support from SOTENI AIDS Barefoot Doctors and their monthly supply of water purification packets for clean drinking water from P&G Children’s Safe Drinking Water Program.
· Expand life-saving education and communication on the importance of hand hygiene, social distancing and self-quarantining, reaching the immunosuppressed and immunocompromised individuals and families we serve in remote parts of Kenya.
· Upgrade mobile devices and increase funds for airtime and transport for SOTENI AIDS Barefoot Doctors who are traveling greater distances through very remote parts of Kenya in order to reach their clients one to one, instead of in support groups of 15-35 people at a time.
In times of crises the African philosophy of Ubuntu – We are because you are – is stronger than ever and continues to guide SOTENI.
Together we can build a healthier community, and world. Thank you for your continued support and generosity.
