According to their website, "The Nature Conservancy is taking on the tough issues facing conservation today—from climate change to coral reefs, to energy development in a growing world. We are applying high-level strategies to our conservation work around the world in the following areas: protecting water, action on climate change, saving oceans, conserving land, [and] transforming cities."
My graduate thesis is focused on national parks and the role the natural world plays in our lives in this digital age--and the wonders of rivers and trees are a big part of my research and writing for this project. Having grown up surrounded by oaks and maples and now living next to a federally protected river in Minnesota, I've learned a lot about the importance of forests and watersheds and their sustainable management. I have also spent a lot of time researching environmental organizations that work to preserve these areas to select the charity that I would like to highlight on the occasion of our wedding.
Please consider celebrating the union of our lives through a gift that will help protect this beautiful planet, including its lands and waters. Your gift will give back for generations to come, and thank you for your consideration.
Sincerely,
Sophia (and Paul)
