Funds are urgently needed to keep your community Museum alive. Please contribute today to help this unique cultural resource throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.
Dear Members & Friends,
The Somerville Museum misses you. The COVID-19 pandemic has affected us all, but we remain committed to serving you, our community, as a cultural resource. Our mission goes on: to preserve the past, reflect the present and help shape the future of our community. The Museum has been a community resource since 1930 -- through the Great Depression, World War II, the flight to the suburbs and more. It has always found a way to persevere and thrive, but we need your help. Just weeks ago we were feverishly gearing up for another season of history, art, and culture expecting to present you with these events and exhibitions including, David Guss’ Time Marches On: A Postcard History of Somerville exhibit, Somerville Open Studios First Look Show, and Duo Maresienne & Friends’ May concert of early music.
Your membership fees, gift shop purchases, donations, admission costs and rentals form the bedrock of the financing that sustains us. Now the gift shop is closed, exhibitions and rentals have been canceled. Yet still we must keep up Museum security and insurance, pay a skeleton staff to create and update our online presence; maintain the building and collections and pay utility bills. Please help us meet our goal of raising $15,000 in the next 30 days. To contribute by check, please mail to: Somerville Museum COVID-19 Emergency Fund, One Westwood Road, Somerville MA 02143.
On behalf of all of our Trustees, Volunteers and Staff, I thank you for your generosity. Be well.
Barbara Mangum, President of the Board
