WISH provides daily electric power to major buildings in Anse-a-Galet, Haiti, including the WISH compound, Ice Plant, Wesleyan Hospital, Dental Clinic, new Community Center and Youth Center, and the village Police Statiaon. The power is currently produced with diesel generators. Diesel is expensive and, at times, hard to acquire. We are in the process of installing phase one of a solar power system. This will decrease WISH dependence on diesel. The solar field has been prepared for the solar panels to be installed, and the building that will house the system has been built. Work continues as the inside of the building is prepared for installation of all the electrical components. The final purchase to complete phase one is the batteries for the solar system. The battery cost is estimated at $60,000 for two batteries.
