About Summer on the Hill
Summer on the Hill’s mission is to enrich the education of promising, low-income public school students from The Bronx, Washington Heights, and Harlem. We prepare our students for selective schools and colleges, and offer guidance to them and their parents. Summer on the Hill (SOH) provides educational opportunities to accepted students for as long as ten years, from the end of 2nd grade through high school.

In celebration of Summer on the Hill’s 25th year, we’re hosting an alumni-led fundraising campaign from now until the end of the year.
We’re asking fellow alumni, former peer mentors and faculty, and friends of the program to consider making a 25th anniversary gift to support the organization that has impacted so many of us.
The Summer on the Hill experience can be so valuable for talented, hard-working students who come from low-income families. In the words of Arushi, the 2018 SOH 8th grade graduation speaker:
“Our teachers and mentors taught us that nothing comes easy; from tenacious years and demanding sacrifices come progress and success. From fourth grade, we were taught…to be audacious and guide others, to help them find their voice…to justify our opinions and push for change in society.”
We’ve set an ambitious goal of raising $10,000 by the end of 2018. Please help us celebrate by making your tax-deductible gift today! Whether you can give $25 or $25,000, a contribution of any size can change lives:
- $50 provides healthy snacks for a student throughout the year.
- $100 covers the cost of classroom supplies for a student during the summer session.
- $250 purchases a year’s worth of books for an entire classroom.
- $500 provides 17 sessions of SAT/ACT prep.
- $1,000 underwrites a student’s participation in our summer session.
- $2,500 supports a two-day tour of regional colleges for 12 high school students, including travel, meals, and hotel.
Summer on the Hill has helped nearly a thousand students reach their potential. Thank you for helping us lead the next generation of leaders into a bright future through your generous donation!
