The Beechcraft Model 18 was used in so many ways in civilian and military uses. as light transport, light bombers, aircrew trainers for bombing, navigation and gunnery and as mother ships for target drones. Over 90 percent of United States Army Air Forces bombardiers and navigators trained in this aircraft type. The Mile High Wing is honored to operate one of these authentic aircraft. Sonoran Beauty still has the original antennae from her days as a radio/ navigation trainer. The Wing would like to complete some cosmetic work to truly allow this warbird to shine.
Since its acquisition by the CAF, the plane has been polished and the engines replaced with 9 cylinders 985 radial engines. The Wing recently began a paint and polish job, which still needs to be completed. In addition, new tires must be installed before next flying season.
