Special Needs Arts Programs, Inc., (SNAP) is very excited to participate in this year’s virtual Battlegreen Run! We are so grateful to the Batlegreen Run Foundation for their support. 2020 marks the 5th year SNAP has fielded a team for the Battlegreen Run. Our goal this year is to raise $5,000.
Founded in Lexington in 1981, SNAP provides people with developmental and intellectual disabilities recreational opportunities that celebrate each person’s unique abilities while cultivating expression, building peer relationships, and fostering self-esteem through life enhancing activities in art and music.
SNAP continues to creatively adapt our programs to meet the challenge presented by the COVID-19 pandemic. SNAP has adapted its music and arts programming from “high-touch to high-tech” to enable our isolated members to maintain relationships with their friends. Within days of the announced lockdown and quarantine, SNAP staff and volunteers shifted programming from face-to-face at the Lexington Community Center to online music and art sessions using the Zoom and YouTube, now so familiar to us all. SNAP has also worked hard to get donated technology to our special needs participants so they can access programs online.
In order to continue our mission in the community we need to raise funds to support our programs. Because of COVID-19 and the need to social distance and limit group sizes, we were not able to hold our spring and fall concerts. These are major fundraisers for SNAP and lost revenue.
We know that there are many people struggling right now. Can you help SNAP continue to provide quality programming to our vulnerable population? Any amount you can donate will help keep quality music and arts programming available for the area special needs community.
We thank you for your support!
