SNAP 2 IT has joined other shelters, rescue groups, and spay/neuter clinics from around the country in the Michelson Found Animals fifth annual Saving Pets Challenge. This amazing fundraising campaign offers grants to organizations focused on keeping pets out of shelters.
SNAP 2 IT starts at the root of the problem, with our TNR programs, we aid colony caregivers by trapping/neutering/releasing community cats to help keep the population of cats to a manageable size in their communities, neighborhoods and complexes. These forgotten "community" cats, you may see running around an apartment complex or hanging around a dumpster at a resturant, are mass producers of kittens. One female can produce 2 litters of 6-12 kittens each per year...and in just a few months those 2 litters can then produce 2 more.... and before you know it you have hundreds of unwanted cats roaming hungry, suffering and reproducing.
SNAP2IT understands the struggle of colony caregivers as it fosters, medicates, spays/neuters and feeds many cats at it's very own kitty farm. In addition to rescue goats and and Mr. Banks the pig! SNAP2IT offers assistance and shares resources to colony caregivers as we all fight the battle of caring for these critters together. By placing as many of the kittens and young socials as as possible into foster homes and adoption programs, raising funds to spay/neuter, providing medical care and shelter from the elements and of course let's not forget, feeding them, with your help, we can make a dent in this massive problem.
SNAP 2 IT also hopes to expand our educational and clinical services. We are already answering questions at our adoption centers every weekend, particpating in pet therapy programs and offering vaccine clinics... Winning a grant through this challenge would help us keep even more owned pets healthy and in their homes (and out of animal control and the maternity ward!!!!) would allow us to conduct even more vaccine clinics, raise awareness and much needed funds to help provide TNR services to colony caregivers, educational resources to pet owners, and low cost spay/neuter to struggling pet owners.
So lets be productive not reproductive and help SNAP 2 IT......Every penny, dime, quarter, dollar will help us Prevent Litters and Fix Critters!
