SNACK* Team FUN, FRIENDS & HOPE
Our team, comprised of SNACK* staff members and friends, are taking on the daunting task of completing a 26.2-mile run in a 1-day period between Oct. 17th - Nov. 1st without the help of thousands of people in the streets cheering them on - all to benefit SNACK*! Let's all CHEER them on for the tremendous challenge they are taking on to help SNACK* raise much-needed funds so we can continue to be there for our kids and families during these very challenging times! SNACK* was created by Jackie Ceonzo when her son Joey, who has autism, was turned away from other special needs programs as they were not able to accommodate his needs. A key philosopy of SNACK * is to serve children, teens and adults of all capabilities - no matter how challenging their behavior or degree of disabililty. Please visit www.snacknyc.com to learn more about who we are and what we do.
Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) now affects 1 in 59 children, a 15% increase from 1 in 68 just two years ago. According to the CDC, autism is one of the fastest growing developmental disorders in the U.S. Parents of children with autism often find themselves lost in a maze of competing information and treatment suggestions, coupled with fear for their child's future.
SNACK* (Special Needs Activity Center for Kids and *Adults) is dedicated to serving this growing population of children, teens and young adults to the give them the help they need to thrive - to make friends, have fun, build skills, work and participate in activites that typical people do everyday. SNACK* also enables parents to continue their daily lives, assured in the knowledge that their child is safe, cared-for, engaged, and learning the skills to achieve a more purposeful life.
