Thank you for supporting your local American Red Cross. Every eight minutes, the Red Cross responds to a disaster, the majority of which are home fires. Sadly, these crises take seven lives each day. Thanks to supporters like you, the Red Cross is rallying our dedicated volunteers and commmunity partners to prevent these tragedies.
Throughout the year, we go door-to-door in vulnerable neighborhoods installing free smoke alarms and helping families create fire escape plans. Studies show that having a working smoke alarm can reduce home fire fatality and injury by 50 percent. Since launching these efforts in 2014, the Red Cross has installed over 1.5 million free smoke alarms nationwide and saved more than 520 lives.
Locally, we install over 6,000 free smoke alarms annually in low-income and fire-risk homes, but we need your help. We are currently raising funds to cover the cost of purchasing and installing these smoke alarms. Your gift toward these livesaving devices will impact families right here in Southern California.
