On Sunday, October 6, the Smith family will be running a relay marathon in the 2019 Maine Marathon. The funds we raise will go to support the Josephine and John Marr Alzheimer’s Research Fund at Brigham and Women’s Hospital (BWH). Established by the Marr family, the fund supports a visionary Alzheimer’s research initiative aimed at ultimately preventing the disease.
Today, more than five million Americans are courageously fighting Alzheimer’s disease. Alzheimer's disease is one of the most expensive diseases in the country, costing Medicare and Medicaid a combined $150 billion. In addition, there are nearly 16 million unpaid Alzheimer's caretakers in America. This means that 18.5 billions hours of care, valued at nearly $234 billion, are provided by family and friends. There is a cure out there, we just have to find it. Please join the fight by donating to our relay marathon fund. Our loved ones deserve to remember how truly loved they are.
Thank you for joining us in this fight to prevent Alzheimer’s. Together we can make a difference—now and for future generations.
