Small Triumph Big Speech is a podcast raising money for bail funds.
Wait, so my donation is going to a freaking podcast?! In THIS climate?!
Nope. By donating here you're directly supporting The Bail Project which "provides free bail assistance and pretrial support to thousands of low-income people every year," per their website.
You realize there are protests going on right now. Right?
Yes. The Bail Project is providing assistance to protesters in addition to their ongoing long-term work to combat mass incarceration.
Okay.... then how is the podcast related?
Small Triumph Big Speech is a show that takes someone's everyday accomplishment (taking out the trash, making the bed, folding laundry) and then celebrates it with a big, epic, graduation-style speech. If you donate through this fundraiser you're eligible to be a guest on the show. The podcast's previous fundraiser raised over $10,000 for domestic workers.
Ohhhhh. So you're just incentivizing donations to The Bail Project?
But, like, why?
Because bail is a predatory tactic to keep low income people in jail pretrial, robbing them of the presumption of innocence. It disproprotionately affects Black and Brown people. This is just my small way of helping out.
Okay. So who are you??
I'm Dylan Marron. I'm not affiliated with The Bail Project. I just think they're doing important work and I'm trying to find a creative way to support them.
Do these donations go directly to the The Bail Project?
Are you getting a cut of the donations?
Umm. Why would I donate on this GoFundMe and not through their website?
Because this GoFundMe allows me to track how much money listeners of this show have raised *and* it allows me to randomly select guests for the show. (But FYI: if you'd rather, you can totally donate directly on their website!)
If I donate directly on their website can I still be eligible to be on the podcast?
No. But you'll still get those sweet sweet karma points!
If I donate to this GoFundMe do I need to be on the podcast?
Lol. Not at all. You can donate here and opt out of being a guest.
Okay so IF I'm selected... who would deliver me this "big speech" you're promising?
We keep upcoming guests under wraps but past guests include Nora McInerny, Bowen Yang, Jacqueline Woodson, Jason Sudeikis, Hrishikesh Hirway, and Josh Gondelman.
Where can I listen to it?
No problem. Thanks for reading this!
Cool. Gonna scroll back up now.
