We are excited to announce our first Capital Campaign EVER! The Slam Dunk for Southwest campaign is underway. Our goal is to raise $1.2 million and we are almost there! We welcome you to make an investment in children, fitness, fun, and the power of sport and movement. Please help us convert our moldy locker rooms and dilapidated gym into 21st century recreational spaces that are worthy of our students and our community.
Southwest Baltimore Charter School (SBCS) is a prek-8th grade Baltimore City Public School that primarily educates low-income students. Fitness, dance, fun and games are so important to our students, who cannot always play outside safely. Unfortunately, our gym 's HVAC system is broken, making the gym uncomfortable and the locker rooms moldy. It is also not functional for the many activities that our school enjoys. Our students participate in many activities and teams, including lacrosse and basketball. We also have an acclaimed dance program and need a dedicated dance studio space for the program to grow. In addition to giving our students a great place to play and learn about fitness, we want the neighborhood to be able to use the space for sports, yoga, dance and other events.
