Sister to Sister 2 (a.k.a Serenity House) is opening our 2nd home for women Survivors of violence, incarceration, homelessness, and addiction!
We have acquired a large, 7-bedroom home in Oakland which will allow us to provide very affordable long-term housing for women who have overcome unimaginable difficulties - women who have who have worked very hard to transform their lives. Most are employed, but do not have access to safe and affordable housing! 90% are African American women.
We will be able to safely and comfortably house 7-10 women in this large home, including former clients who are now working at Serenity House, but lack stable housing.
With a little tender loving care we can make this older home beautiful, warm, and inviting!
We are raising funds to help us pay for necessary upgrades & repairs, including replacing some of the flooring & carpeting, heater vents, toilets, kitchen countertops, as well as painting the interior.
We also need to purchase appliances, beds, linens, kitchen items, curtains, rugs, & furniture.
Our goal is to have our new housing ready for women to move-in by Jan 1st, 2021!
This Giving Tuesday please help us as we create new, truly affordable housing for women Survivors!
