Compassion is Taking Action!
“Empathy is a gateway to compassion. It’s understanding how someone feels, and trying to imagine how that might feel for you — it’s a mode of relating. Compassion takes it further. It’s feeling what that person is feeling, holding it, accepting it, and taking some kind of action.” - Lori Chandler
It was a lovely March day when Mr. Pec’s grade 7 class shared with us their “We Are Silent” story. The two Kindergarten classes, Les Hiboux and Les Lapins, were captivated by the presentation as they learnt that not all children in the world are able to attend school. Following the presentation, a beautiful class discussion occurred in which students shared their perspectives on the importance of equality and education. Both Les Hiboux and Les Lapins were passionate about taking action to help those children who are unable to attend school and decided that every day during afternoon snack they would be silent to raise money for those children whose voices go unheard.
For every $50 raised, one child will be able to go to school. If you are able, please support Les Hiboux and Les Lapin as they work to reach their fundraising goal of sending 10 students to school.
Our actions are a powerful tool for social change.
By taking a vow of silence in solidarity with those whose voices go unheard, we can prove just how impactful our voices truly are. So turn up the volume and let your silence be heard. With WE Are Silent, you can take a stand for human rights and fundraise for social change.
Over the years, WE Are Silent has been one of WE’s most successful campaigns. That’s because of the impact it makes. Our vow of silence starts the conversations that lead to incredible fundraising and awareness-raising campaigns—helping to amplify the voice of others—and donations that provide a tangible impact with access to education.
