For this Giving Tuesday (December 3), please join me in supporting the Sioux YMCA.
In 2012, I spent two weeks working on the Cheyenne River Reservation in South Dakota through the Sioux Y Initiative, a summer program that delivers a pop-up day camp experience and healthy meals to kids living in isolated communities throughout the 5,000 square mile Native American reservation. I witnessed the impact that the Sioux YMCA has on the families and children it serves, and have been supporting its work since
The Sioux YMCA is one of few organizations serving a community facing high rates of suicide, especially among children; an 80% unemployment rate due to lack of opportunity; and adverse living conditions. It provides a safe space for kids after school, academic enrichment, youth leadership development, healthy meals in a food desert, community wellness programs, and more.
Please consider supporting the Sioux Y this giving season as I seek to raise $500. Thank you in advance for your generosity!
