I first heard about Gabe Grunewald when I signed up for the Silo District Half Marathon this past year. This brave young woman managed to continue to run, win races, and break records after being diagnosed with and undergoing grueling treatments for a rare and agressive form of cancer-adenoid cystic carcinoma. She fought hard and brave with grace, hope, and grit for ten years. Sadly, Gabe passed away in June at just 32 years old.
I have been talking about running a marathon for 25 years. Yep. 25. And I honestly wasn't sure if it would ever make it off my "someday" list. But when you hear stories like Gabe's, about all that she endured, yet she kept moving forward bravely with hope no matter her circumstances, well, I really can't come up with any good reasons to put if off any longer. I am going to run this marathon because I can.
I am running for Gabe and for the foundation that she created to raise hope, awareness, and funding for rare cancer research. I am humbly asking for your support. Thank you!
